Good question! The Solent can mean different things to different people. Technically, it is the name of the area of sea between the Isle of Wight and the coast of Hampshire on England’s mainland. Commonly people from the Solent are people who live or are based in areas around the body of water known as the Solent. Not everyone who lives here identifies in this way, however. While we use the word to talk about a geographical area in which we work and are based, we don’t think of it as a word with rigid geographical boundaries.

We work in areas across the Solent as well as nationally and internationally. The majority of our work in the Solent orbits around Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight, Gosport Borough, Havant and the New Forest District, but we also work in the surrounding areas.

Portsmouth is our main base and creative engine-room, from which we develop our projects, programmes and opportunities that connect locally, nationally and internationally. We’re fortunate to have offices in Portsmouth’s beautiful Historic Dockyard.
