Hyena by Alula Cyr, 8 Songs by Gandini Juggling and Ringside by Ellie Dubois all featured at Subcase Subtopia Circus Fair in Stockholm last week as part of Spotlight UK Circus – the second outing at an international circus festival for the British circus showcase this autumn.

The 5 day contemporary circus fair takes place annually and is specifically for programmers and producers of venues, performing arts events, festivals, funding organisations and journalists. Subcase is co-curated by a group of Nordic-Baltic performing arts professionals and is an excellent opportunity to connect with international contacts.

Last year 160 professionals from 21 countries participated. This year, the fair was even bigger and 155 promoters attended one or more of the Spotlight UK Circus shows, and the pitch by Jessica Andrade of her work in progress, The Brownie Club.

Not only was there interest in each of the featured companies, the showcase itself attracted interest from other festival promoters as a model way to promote work to international markets.
