Insane is a striking, contemporary dance performance featuring internationally acclaimed Šeiko Dance Company performing alongside 60 local community participants.
Residents across Fratton and the wider Portsmouth area are invited to come together this summer for 432 Fratton, a free community celebration taking place at St Mary’s Churchyard on Sunday 21 June 2026 as part of Portsmouth100 and Refugee Week 2026.
Running from 12pm – 5pm, the event will bring together live performance, community activities and celebrations showcasing the diversity, creativity and resilience of Portsmouth’s communities. The day will also include the annual Inspiring Fratton Awards.
Visitors are invited to bring a picnic and enjoy live music, dance and performances from a range of local artists and community groups, including Just Lucy, Kay 9, Rishky Patel, Abstract Dance and El Salvador Dance. A variety of food and drink stalls will also be available throughout the day, creating a welcoming festival atmosphere for all ages.
Central to the day will be Insane – a striking large-scale contemporary dance performance featuring internationally acclaimed Šeiko Dance Company performing alongside 60 local community participants. Choreographed by Alban Richard, the powerful outdoor piece forms part of The Point Is Portsmouth – a city-wide programme created by Crying Out Loud to celebrate Portsmouth100.
Based in Lithuania, Šeiko Dance Company is internationally recognised for interdisciplinary, minimalist and community-focused performances. Choreographer Agnija Šeiko said:
“Insane invites very different people to come together and experience genuine connection through collective movement – exploring identity, displacement, belonging and presence in a large-scale ensemble.”
432 Fratton is presented in partnership with Crying Out Loud, 432 Nomads and Fratton Together. Majid Dhana, Co-Founder of 432 Nomads said:
“We are thrilled to co-present 432 Fratton during Portsmouth’s centenary year. We have deliberately planned this event to take place at the end of Refugee Week 2026, celebrating the richness of Fratton and Portsmouth’s diverse communities, and their resilience and strong sense of connection.”
Father Bob, Chair of Fratton Together said:
“Fratton Together and St Mary’s Church are delighted to be part of this event and for the churchyard to be a place celebrating our rich and diverse community life in Fratton, as well as the wider city. We look forward to also celebrating the individuals and groups who enhance our common life as we host the Inspiring Fratton Awards which we run with our MP, Stephen Morgan.”
432 Fratton forms part of The Point Is Portsmouth, a major cultural programme celebrating Portsmouth100. Other upcoming events include Circus in Motion on 17–18 July, which will see contemporary circus transform Portsmouth Historic Dockyard with world-class performances and large-scale visual spectacles.
