Carnesky’s Finishing School Soho

September – December 2016

We are supporting Carnesky’s Finishing School (CFS) at their brand new campus in Soho where they will be running five day intensives and evening classes during September – December.

Students with the seed of an idea will benefit from classes in esoteric PE, situationist clowning, unpopular expressionism and transmetaformism. They will then be lead through the process of devising and creating work, and finally performing it on stage in front of a paying audience.

Marisa Carnesky with assistance from Lisa Lee (The LipSinkers/UnderConstruction) will provide students with a supportive, creative environment. Previous alumni have gone on to collaborate together, and support from the School and the cohort lasts well beyond the duration of the course.

CFS performers 5 day course (performers): 16 – 18, 24 – 25 September

CFS evening class: Thursday from 29 September – 1 December

CFS performers 5 day course (beginners): 14 – 16, 23 – 24 September

All courses are £250 with discounts for CFS graduates.

In addition CFS  will also be running weekend workshops led by guest teachers from the international cabaret and live art scene and special events in conjunction with the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club.

Carnesky’s Cabaret School offered all-round support for me as artist to develop new material and get it stage-ready. Over the course of a week Marisa worked with us on new methods: how to resource inspiration, find or make props, incorporate speech, and most importantly she taught us how to explore our stage presence further. I now have new ideas and material that I can take into my future on stage and will perform the act I have made soon on some of London’s cabaret stages – MisSa Blue
