Exploring careers in visual theatre through artist-led sessions, role-playing activities, and inspiring insights into creative professions

In 2023, Crying Out Loud in collaboration with three Solent performance artists created an inspiring 2-hour interactive session for young people to deliver in schools or performance spaces.

Life In Visual Theatre

What is visual theatre? What type of career could I have? Meet artists and discover their career paths, see their work, find out how they train and make shows and who else they work with to make the magic happen. Discover which roles best suit your skills and interests in the visual theatre world and find your creative flow.

Aims:

  • To engage young people in primary, secondary schools and 16+ education, offering insights into pursuing careers in visual theatre and associated roles.
  • To introduce creative careers, personal artist stories, question and answer about what being an artist is like, interactive activities, and scenarios to bring career paths to life and inspire and inform young minds about the world of creative professions.
  • Provide signposting for students/teachers for skills/career development.

Outcomes:

Students will have the chance to engage with artists and explore different roles within the visual theatre world through interactive role-playing activities.

The session is available to schools/colleges in the Solent region. Please contact us register your interest or for more information.

Led by our Solent Programme Producer Lucy, this is part of Crying Out Loud’s Solent Creative Pathways programme.
