The Forgotten / L’Oublié(e)

Directed by Raphaëlle Boitel
France

Raphaëlle Boitel is a well-known circus artist, highly skilled in aerial, object manipulation and dance. She has worked with James Thiérrée and Company 111. The Forgotten / L’Oublié(e) is her highly anticipated first show as a director.

The Forgotten / L’Oublié(e) is a fairy tale. A woman waits for a man, who has been asleep for years, to wake up. She plunges herself into his mind to find him. Her quest takes her into his dreams; a parallel world of hallucinations and fantastical situations. Combining circus, physical theatre and dance Raphaëlle creates a mesmerizing and visually arresting world through which she explores memory, absence and reminiscence.

Press

  • ‘A touch of Lynch here, a scent of Kate Bush’s gothic romanticism there, Raphaëlle Boitel and her company have presented an epic event at La Vilette. Featuring superb and imaginative moments they create an intimate sense of a memory in ruins. L’Oublié(e) is an experience that will live on in your memory.’

    Libération

  • ‘Highlights include Thiérrée, Camille Boitel and the wondefully lithe contortionist Raphaelle Boitel - dressed in Liliane Boitel’s exquisite black and red costumes - rolling out the red carpet and performing breathtaking acrobatics.’
