Bringing together experienced artists, producers and partners working across the sector to share insights and spark discussion.
A day for artists, programmers and producers to come together in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard to explore how contemporary circus travels, adapts and connects with audiences in different places. The programme (to be announced) will bring together experienced artists, producers and partners working across the sector to share insights and spark discussion.
Exploring heritage activation and re-imagining our heritage spaces and buildings; the day will delve into ideas of concept touring to make the sector more inclusive and sustainable with a focus on two questions:
– How can we have “Circus for Every Body”? Exploring how to make circus more accessible to D/deaf, disabled, and non-disabled audiences and artists, while embedding inclusive practices within venue touring models.
– How can we tour internationally while adopting environmentally sustainable practices?
The event sits alongside Circus in Motion on 17 and 18th July, part of The Point Is Portsmouth, Crying Out Loud’s contemporary circus event bringing together UK and international artists at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard on Friday and Saturday evenings as part of Portsmouth100. This marks the first programme of this scale and kind to be hosted at the Dockyard.
