Solent-based neurodiverse, male-identifying gay contemporary dance artist, choreographer, movement director, and teacher.

Luke is Artistic Director of Luke Brown Company, founded in 2014, and a Lecturer in Dance at the University of Chichester. Luke also serves as Rehearsal Director for mapdance and was formerly Artist Development Producer at The Point, Eastleigh.

Since graduating from London Studio Centre, Luke has performed with renowned companies such as Frantic Assembly (Fatherland), English National Opera & Philip Glass (The Perfect American), Ben Wright (Spectrum) and ZoieLogic Dance Theatre (Echo, Murmur). Other credits include Junk Ensemble (Marble and Bread) and Lila Dance (The Hotel Experience and Faultlines).

As a choreographer, Luke has created works for Intoto Dance, BalletBoyz, The Place, Laban, and Dance East CAT Schemes. He has also worked with mature ensembles such as Dorset-based Grace & Growl, Norwich-based Cadenza Dance Company, and Holy Trinity Sloane Square’s Earthworks Company.

Luke’s collaborative practice includes working with diverse groups, including elder performers, dancers with disabilities, young people with mental health needs, and professional artists across disciplines.

In 2017, Luke co-founded ORB Youth Dance Co. in partnership with The Point, providing contemporary dance training and performance opportunities for young performers in Hampshire.

Our Artistic Director Rachel and our Solent Programme Producer Lucy first met Luke in 2024 in his role as choreographer for the Downtown Pompey Sticky Floors and Palm Trees show, and as an Associate Artist of the Portsmouth Guildhall Harbour Live Artist Development Programme.
