We are a proud founder-member of Circostrada, the European network for contemporary circus and outdoor arts.
Since 2003, Circostrada has been bringing together professionals from Europe and beyond, and who are characterised both by their diversity and their shared interest in circus and street arts. Since its inception, we have regularly participated in Circostrada’s quarterly meetings, seminars and discussions hosted at European festivals.
The network features disciplines as varied as contemporary circus, site-specific projects, participatory and local projects, visual theatre or art in public spaces. It comprises small and large organisations, both independent bodies and public institutions and structures: festivals, residency, creation and performance spaces, umbrella organisations, national networks, resource and information centres, and development agencies.
In April 2009 Crying Out Loud hosted the first meeting for members’ funders and supporters in London, enabling a dialogue around policy and practice across the membership countries.
In 2025 Crying Out loud and Third Version Creative were asked to contribute to ‘The Role of Outdoor Arts in Creative Placemaking: A Step-By-Step Guide to Transforming Communities and Spaces” a toolkit designed to serve as both a practical and inspirational guide on the role of outdoor arts in creative placemaking.
